Sunday 14th June Fillies Trial Stakes

Sunday seems to be a good race card of eight events with a quality field of 14 good three year old fillies taking part in the feature event of the day the Fillies Trial Stakes. Gypsy Magic stakes her claim on favoritism with her 3/4 lenght second in the PBMM behind Versaki despite running on the outer rails on the wide Mumbai track. Also having beaten Jacqueline in that race trainer Padmanabhan will be pretty confident of beating this field. On paper one cannot ignore the claims of Captivating on her sheer rating by the handicapper and this filly has not put a foot wrong except for that loss to Astral Flash in Mumbai which I would attribute to a tactical mistake by the Jockey for not letting her set her own pace with the race being run at a snails pace.

All said and done I nominate Gypsy Magic to make it first to the finish provided her trainer has been able to get her to improve her temperament which I think might be ok tomorrow as she will have good cover through out the race having a lower draw number and Captivating should follow her home. The dark horse here for a place chance at fancy odds would be Systematic who has been entered in the race as a final entry with the owner having to shell out a final entry fee and the manner in which she ran her last race suggests that she would relish the extra furlong in trip.

Having said all this about the feature event I get down to the two bets for the day :

1. Sans Pareil in the fourth race
2. Leave it to me in the seventh race

should win their respective races.

One horse to keep an eye in the paddock parade and the betting ring is STORMY RIVER in the third race which if the connections are positive should be your KILL bet for the day.
